Service Projects

Zonta Club of Tallahassee is a service organization which supports local and international service projects which meet Zonta International's objectives. Members are expected to donate at least 12 service hours each year. We encourage interested parties and potential members to participate with us in service to the Tallahassee community and women worldwide.

  • To improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local level through service and advocacy.
  • To work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions.
  • To promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
  • To be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, to implement service programs, and to provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations, and the world.

Projects are categorized as follows: (use the menu above to see projects for each category)

  • Preventing Violence Against Women
  • General Status of Women
  • Legislative Awareness & Advocacy
  • International Projects

Two new projects this year are:

Birthing Kits (simple kits of supplies needed for a sterile birth to occur)

Collect, purchase, or obtain donations. Help put together kits, find a way to ship them, ship them to third world countries.

Oasis Library Development (helping Oasis, a center that supports women and girls, establish a library that includes books by local women authors, biographies and autobiographies of women and children’s’ books with strong girl and women characters)

Create wish lists of books to be purchased or donated, establish Amazon wish list page, create flyer to advertise the need for others to donate books, evaluate books they already have and cull those that don’t fit the criteria, purchase books, organize collection, barcode and enter books into Oasis tracking system, plan opening celebration, and plan for maintenance of library.
