The project mission is to promote, protect and improve the health of women. This project· provides health information, health education for women of all ages and breast cancer screening test for women age 40 and above who are without health insurance or are under insured (no coverage to pay for screening test).
The breast screening criteria targets women who are at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level and serves eligible women in five counties: Leon, Jefferson, Madison, Taylor and Wakulla counties. Each county health department can serve women that meet the profile for service.
Service hours for Zonta members are obtained by· preparation of outreach materials, creating community information displays, hosting and serving at health fairs to promote women’s health, and through community education.
Thus the Zonta Mammogram Project meets the minority service and health initiatives criteria for Zonta service.
