Founded in Buffalo, NY in 1919, zonta international is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. with more than 31,000 members belonging to more than 1,200 zonta clubs in 66 countries and geographic areas, Zontians all over the world volunteer their time, talents and support to local and international service projects, as well as scholarship programs aimed at fulfilling Zonta's mission and objectives

The Zonta Club of Tallahassee (ZCT) was chartered in May of 1980, at the Capital City Country Club in a very formal ceremony, which was attended by many Zontians across the state of FL, including Zonta Governor Barbara Dean, as well as Zontians from other states in District 11. The Delray Beach Club was Tallahassee's sponsor. The founding president was Helen Webb, and the startup club had 46 members.

ZCT has supported Zonta International (ZI) programs and worked with many local agencies to achieve the objectives of ZI and improve womens' lives.  ZCT recently held a 30 year Anniversary and Celebration at the University Center Club, which was attended by over 100 ZCT members and guests, including 17 of the 29 Past Presidents.
